(Covid-19)

Update 03/21/2020

Hello Church Family,

It is my prayer that each of you are doing well in the midst of this tragic pandemic. It is my desire that we could have church like normal but we are not living in normal time. These times call for creativity.

In order for us to maintain President Trump’s recommendations of social distancing, we have decided the following:
We will have one Sunday School at 10 AM and a Preaching Service at 11 AM. Both of these will take place in the parking lot of our church property. We have already begun staging everything and we will be ready tomorrow.

You are more than welcome to attend this outdoor service. If you would like, you may sit outside (you can bring your own chair or use ours) on the asphalt or under one of our beautiful trees.  Please be sure to maintain a 6 foot distance between your family and any other family. You may want to bring an umbrella to shield you from the sun.

You’re also welcome to stage your vehicle in the parking lot and enjoy the service from inside of you vehicle. Each of these services will be broadcasted on our Facebook page. Therefore, you can also enjoy the service from your home.

I know this is unusual but I believe it will work well and God will get the glory. They are calling for some rain tomorrow around noon so please be in prayer that God holds it off until after our church service. There will be no evening service.

As always, if there’s anything we can do for you, please do not hesitate to call.

God Bless You,
Preacher

Update 03/17/2020

Hello Friends,

I am very pleased to announce that Alisa’s father is doing so much better. Last night his fever was heading back to normal (99.7) and this morning his temperature was perfect (98.3). Out of an abundance of caution, we are still isolating him even though his temperature is back to normal, and he did NOT show 2 of the 3 symptoms of the Coronavirus (cough and shortness of breath).

The decision to postpone our Bible study class tonight is still in effect. We have made a decision to comply with President Trump’s administration‘s suggestion of social distancing by not gathering crowds larger than 10 people for the next 14 days. This means that, Lord willing, our next in-person church service will be Wednesday, April 1st. I am looking forward to this day!

In the meantime, essential staff and I will be conducting church services at the normal times and posting them live for you to take part in from the comfort and safety of your home. Please treat this the same as you would a normal church service but from your own home. This means take part in the singing, praying, and even the offering.

Please keep in mind that the church will go on but only as a result of the faithfulness of God‘s people. The avenues of giving are through our church website (keep in mind that PayPal charges a percentage of every donation) or through the United States Postal Service (500 N Pine St. Bunnell, FL 32110).

I understand this is certainly unprecedented, but this whole event has created many unprecedented changes in our great nation and around the world.

Please do not think that I am fearful. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am hopeful, optimistic; and quite frankly, excited for this to be behind us, everyone to be safe, and to get back to serving God the way we do.

I am aware that there will be some who do not agree with this decision. I’m sure there are some preachers out there who are going to conduct their church services as if none of this is even happening. This is the wonderful thing about being an independent, autonomous local church. Each one of us have the ability to make decisions as we feel God is leading. Each one of us will give an account to God one day. Therefore, we must do what we believe God is leading us to do as individuals.

God’s hand of blessing has certainly been upon our church plant, and I’m sure He does not plan on removing His blessings from us. Enjoy the time off. Get close to your family. Get closer to the Lord. Pray God uses this to see many saved and maybe even bring revival! Amen!

Update 3/16/2020

Hello Church Family,

I hope everyone is doing well. I’m so thankful that we have the Word of God to turn to in times like these. I will remind you that God’s Word says, “In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God. Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.”‭‭ Psalms‬ ‭62:7-8‬ ‭KJB

This morning, my wife’s father was not feeling well. I had him take his temperature, and it was 100.2. We waited and took it again at 4:30 PM, and it was 101.7. Although he says he feels fine now and is NOT showing all the symptoms of Coronavirus (coughing and shortness of breath), I must follow my own guidelines. Therefore, because we have a person in our household that is ill, I must postpone our Bible studies for tomorrow night.

We are planning on having Prayer Meeting and Bible Study Wednesday evening. I have asked Bro. Elijah to give the message. I’m sure your heart will be stirred. I have also asked Bro. Jeremy to make sure that each service going forward is available on Facebook Live.

Bro. Rodney Griffin wrote a song 25 years ago, and I believe it is a very timely truth for us today:
“You’ll carry me through, Lord
Like You always do, Lord
You’ll hold me and hide me like good Shepherds do
This valley’s no different
Than all those valleys that came and went
I know You’ll be true like You promised You’d do
You’ll carry me through”
Amen!
I can’t wait for all this to be behind us, and we can get back to our lives and serving Jesus to the best of our ability.

Update 03/14/2020

Hello Church Family,

Because of the developments of the coronavirus in our state, we have decided to have an abbreviated schedule for church tomorrow.

·      We will not have Sunday school tomorrow at 10:00am.

·      We will not have an evening service tomorrow at 6:00pm.

·      Since it has been a priority for God’s people to gather on the first day of the week and during a time of crisis, church takes a more added significance; we will have a morning service at 11:00am.  This service will also be livestreamed through our Facebook page  for those who are not able to attend.

·      No childcare will be provided during this service.

·      We are asking those who attend to please refrain from handshaking, hugging, or invading anyone else’s personal space.

·      We are asking those who are sick (cough, fever, etc.), feel like they may be coming down with something, or have someone sick in their home to please stay home and watch the service on Facebook.

·      We recommend that our elderly members (65+) and those with pre-existing health issues in our congregation consider staying home tomorrow.  We know you desire to worship with us, but we want to do everything possible to protect you as you are the most susceptible to this virus.

·      Although the schedule for tomorrow is very unusual, please keep in mind the day-to-day needs of the church through giving.  Because of the promises of God regarding tithes and offerings, you are encouraged to stay faithful now more than ever.  You can give online by visiting our church website at www.fcbc.biz or mailing your offering to the church office at 500 N. Pine St. Bunnell, FL 32110.

Since this is a day-by-day situation, we are not prepared to inform you of our plans for future services.  During times like these, we believe that priority should be given to worship and ultimately, our trust is in the Lord to keep us safe and healthy during this time.
Please join us in praying for our community and all those who will be affected by the outbreak.

Please do not hesitate to call if you need anything at all. We are a family, and we are here for one another.

Your Friend,
Pastor Larry Hobbs

Update 03/12/2020
Dear Friend,

At Flagler County Baptist Church, we are committed to reaching the world and our community with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am excited to announce that in our continued efforts to create and maintain a safe and secure environment at church, we have recently installed a partial asphalt parking lot.

Safety of God’s people is very important to us. With the spread of the Coronavirus here in America, I wanted you to know what we are doing to ensure our church facility and church family is safe and protected.

First, we are closely monitoring the latest developments and following the guidance from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). We are also monitoring communication from Flagler County officials via their website and emails.

Currently, our research indicates that the immediate health risk to the general public of Flagler County is considered low, and they are not advising against travel or gathering in our county. There are currently no reported cases of Coronavirus in Flagler County.

In compliance with the CDC, we advise that you follow standard hygiene practices to stay healthy. These practices include washing hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze, and avoiding contact with sick individuals. These tips will also help protect you against the common cold and flu.

Second, we are taking several actions to increase health and safety vigilance on our church. We will be installing new hand sanitizer dispensers around the campus as they come available. We will continue to sanitize every toy in the nursery twice weekly. We will be changing every air filter on the church property. We will be meeting with our cleaning team leaders to inform them of increased cleaning measures in all public areas, entry ways, handles, etc. We will continue with these practices for as long as necessary.

Third, if you are feeling ill, we encourage you to stay home and watch via Facebook livestream. You will be able to enjoy entire services via this helpful technology. You may also give tithes and offerings through our online giving portal located on our church website.

Let’s pray for all those effected by COVID-19 and ask God for protection for our church family.

I look forward to our services this weekend. We will continue in faith and faithfulness along with the safety measures discussed above.

It is a great joy to serve our Lord with each of you. I look forward to seeing you Sunday!

Pastor Larry Hobbs
